FLASH QUOTES
Erik Guay (Mont-Tremblant, QC) 4th place
On the course:
“I think this is the toughest super G in the world. The course is tough, the snow is tough, the setting is tough. There is not much flats on the way down so it’s challenging and a lot of fun.”
“It held up amazing today, it’s been a pretty fair race for the top 30 I think.”
On the event:
“I think it’s an advantage not to get a World Cup downhill here. We’re going to be able to train on this hill in the spring and for once, the Canadians are going to have the advantage over the rest of the world.”
François Bourque (New Richmond, QC) 13th place
On the course:
“It was more challenging then I thought it would be. It’s a lot of blind gates, a lot of terrain. The snow was pretty good because I had an early number but I think it was even for everybody. It’s a great place to race when the weather is nice.”
On his performance:
“It was a good day, I had some mistakes but in general I think I was going for it and I think I had some pretty good sections. I’m positive for tomorrow.”
On the team’s performance:
“Last year we had 13 medals and this year I think we have around 10. The ladies did there part pretty well this year. We’re still a pretty young team. For sure we had a good season and we always want to build up on that but I think in general the team’s doing well again.”
John Kucera (Calgary, AB) 15th place
On the course:
“The hill is great and I know it pretty well. Today we got lucky with the weather. It froze over night and the track was in amazing condition. I love it here. I didn’t ski as well as I needed to up top. I lost almost eight tenth’s at the second interval but from there on down I skied the bottom part well and now I know what I need to do to be successful here.”
On the event:
“I enjoy racing at home. I don’t feel extra pressure I just like the feeling of racing in front of family and friends. It feels like being a young racer again and it kinda takes the stress of the whole World Cup thing away.”
On his performance:
“I skied a little bit too round, maybe a bit too tentative.”
